Infertility While Parenting (Secondary Infertility)

Infertility is tough.  If you are one who chooses to share your story, you may get unwanted advice (“Be glad that you’re alive!“).  If you choose not to share your story, you have to deal with unintentionally hurtful comments (“You … Continue reading

June 2015 Update

Update

I take the time (hours) to blog for other people, and never get the chance to update my own baby.  I started this blog with the hopes of having dialogue with women (and men) outside of my little bubble so that I could have insight on all things parenting.  I looked back on the (few) posts, and I can’t believe how much has changed.  I will try to add the pictures and activities we did in the past, but I might just have to move forward.  The kids and I are the only ones in my family who are thrilled about homeschooling, so I jumped around with curricula a lot.  I wanted to make up my own, but I was afraid if (when) we applied for them to go to school, the admissions office would want a well known curriculum.  I tried to find a balance between what was right for each kid but was still sort of in the norm.  With V I used A BEKA half-heartedly (just wasn’t for him), My Father’s World K, and my own activities.  For Princess I used A BEKA quarter-heartedly (is that a word?), FIAR half-heartedly, and we read, played games and went outside a lot.  She is 4 years old and reading on a 2nd/3rd grade level.  I want, almost more than anything, to homeschool her for kindergarten and first grade so that she keeps her fervor for learning and is not afraid to want to know more, but financially, that is looking impossible.  I’m going to miss our days at home, our “girl’s club” complete with a secret handshake, using dolls to help us with math, having picnics in her room, cuddling up and reading for over an hour, and all of the other unforgettable moments I had the privilege of having with her.  I definitely digressed just then, but this post is just to let you know that we jumped around in our curriculum choices A LOT, so I will try to update the posts with the pictures and memories that I have, but from this point, my main focus is just getting my PRESENT thoughts, feelings, recipes, and activities out.
